New Service for Craven  - Caring Families Team

The Carers’ Resource is a charitable organisation that supports the needs of carers. They now have a “Caring Families Team” in Craven which comprises of the following members of staff:

Susan Arkell – Young Carers Development Worker (Primary School age 7+)
George Macsween – Young Carers Youth Worker (11 – 18 years of age)
They can help a young carer looking after a parent or sibling by:
-    offering or facilitating 1-1 mentoring at difficult times
-    arranging fun trips and developing a young carer youth group
-    encouraging and supporting carers to stay on at school and achieve their potential


Natalie Baxter – Parent Carer Development Worker
Can help a parent carer looking after an ill or disabled child by;
-    listening and understanding
-    providing information on what support is available and how to access it
-    helping with benefits applications e.g. Disability Living Allowance, Carer’s Allowance etc

We now have a new Parent Partnership Coordinator for the Craven Area called Viv Nowell. She is based at 1 Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton BD23 1FJ.

Viv's direct line is 01609 798922, and the general PPS Enquiry Line is 0845 034 9496.

The Parent Partnership Service is available to provide impartial information and advice to parents/carers whose child has special educational needs (SEN) or learning difficulties/disabilities (LDD).
