Skippers: Under 5’s, Parent and Baby/Toddler Group for Children with Disabilities and Special Needs
Every Tuesday at 1.30pm - Skipton Children's Centre
For more information please contact kathryn@cravensupport.org.uk
We have recently been approached by several families who would like a group such as this to be set up in a relaxed and non judgemental environment.
· The group would be open to any child with any type of disability or special need.
· A parent/carer would need to be present with the child, but there would be plenty of toys to play with and activities to do which should keep your child busy. Trips may be arranged in the summer months.
· The group would give parents/carers the opportunity to talk to others who are in a similar situation, and also make new friends.
· There would be someone from Craven Support at hand for you to talk confidentially about anything that is troubling you. You may want some emotional support or advice about anything from education, to medical issues, Disability Living Allowances/Benefits, Eligibility for Short Breaks funding/respite etc.
If you, or someone you know might find a group like this useful Could you please forward or pass this message on to them.
This is an informal group and you can turn up at whatever time, and for as long as you wish.

Children are welcome to come and play, lots of toys available.
Please visit it and register on the parents forum to let us know about the services you are receiving.
►A questionnaire has now been posted on the site asking you to comment on your experience of Short Breaks. Have you been through the process, or been offered it (and not qualified) or had you no idea that this service existed. Please fill it in even if you can only give it a few minutes of your time.
We have a chance through North Yorkshire Parents Forum to get our views raised at a steering committee meeting which is trying to change things for the better. But in order to do this we desperately need your experience of this service, good or bad.
►A further questionnaire will also be posted asking about your views regarding all the services that you are offered in this area. What is important to you, what is not being provided, what needs to be changed or improved? Again please, please fill it in, the 'Aiming High for Disabled Children' Inititative may well be our first chance to really make a difference, so we need to tell them exactly where they are going wrong and what needs to be changed.
